Description
Private Consultant Gastroenterologist - New Consultation
Gastroenterology (sometimes known as GI) focuses on our digestive system and its disorders. The digestive tract starts at our mouth, passing via the stomach and intestines, through to our anus and encompasses all the organs that feed into it such as the liver or pancreas.
Gastroenterology Consultants are medical professionals who specialise in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the digestive system. Our Private Consultant Gastroenterologists follow the latest evidence and research and focus on this wide specialty. If you're experiencing digestive issues, seeing a Private Gastroenterologist may provide you with more efficient care. We recommend that in order to help diagnose your symptoms, we start with an in-depth assessment: a New Consultation.
We ask you to complete a detailed pre-consultation questionnaire ahead of your video call. It will take some time to fill out the questionnaire, but it really helps our specialists to understand your issues, and will allow you get the most out of your consultation appointment.
During the assessment, and for our clinicians to give you an accurate diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment, it’s vital that you answer them as correctly as you can. It is also important for you to note all your symptoms, prior medical and surgical history, any drug allergies, and any prescribed or over-the-counter medications that you take. Please feel free to also add any important recent investigations.
After your appointment you will receive a detailed report with our suggestions, including possibly being asked to purchase some blood or stool tests, to help with the diagnosis. Your Consultant may recommend seeing our Dietician or prescribe some medications to help manage your condition. We can conveniently add these to your shopping basket ready for you to buy.
Our on demand Private Consultant Gastroenterologist Service is intended to enhance and support any GI care you receive on the NHS and it is considered sensible to share any reports we provide with your regular NHS GP.
Please note: we do not prescribe controlled medications.
